The drama series is based on the short story "Pour Vida" written by Richard Villegas Jr. and follows the lives of two estranged Mexican-American sisters. Lyn (Melissa Barrera) and Emma (Mishel Prada) are forced to reunite after their mother's death; after her funeral, they find out that she was married to another woman, Eddy (Ser Anzoategui), and that she left the three of them the family-owned bar. At the beginning of Season 1, Emma reveals a secret about herself, while Lyn gets roped into an affair with her high school boyfriend; as the season progresses, the two sisters learn to be around each other and accept their mother's life and wishes.
